Making the effort to scan a QR Code and visit a URL is the perfect example of people identifying themselves as hand raisers. However, making that effort and being greeted by a slow and hard-to-access site from a smart phone is not the way to make a good impression.
If you are using QR codes to attract customers or promote your latest offer, you need to make sure your existing website is optimized for mobile viewing OR you need to create a separate mobile optimized landing page that loads quickly and is easy to use.
